Kauri Tearaura

Kauri (they/them) is a descendant of the Māori peoples of Ngāti Mahuta, Tongareva, and Avarau. 
Since adolescence, they have led movements across Aotearoa New Zealand that support diverse communities to thrive in the worlds of work, learning, and in life.

Kauri is the diversity, equity and inclusion lead at the Ministry for the Environment. At 24 years of age, they are the youngest senior leader in their field across the New Zealand public service.

A self-described 'for-purpose governor', Kauri has had a community-driven governance career spanning multiple advisory groups, executive committees, and boards of trustees at the regional, national, and international levels.
