The Philippines Star internship
The Foundation's Asia Media Centre is again offering a journalism internship at the Philippine Star newspaper in Manila in 2025. Media internships are offered through the Foundation's Asia Media Centre - set up by to help improve the breadth and depth of coverage of Asia issues in the New Zealand media. Internships provide New Zealand journalism students and recent graduates with experience working at a media organisation in Asia in order to gain a better understanding of the people, places and culture of the host country.

The Star is among the most widely circulated English-language papers in the country, based in a brand new building in the Paranaque area of the Philippines capital, Manila. The paper was launched in 1986, just a few months after the people’s revolt that toppled dictator Ferdinand Marcos.
The Star publishes every day, and runs a comprehensive English-language website looking at every aspect of life in the country of 115 million people.
The Star has had a long association with the media internship programme, with interns describing it as a positive and rewarding experience.
