Leadership Network Ngopi & Kōrero 2025

Find out about connecting with fellow network members to make new friends, discuss life, leadership and Asia and help strengthen the bonds that make the Leadership Network special.

In 2019, the Asia New Zealand Foundation Te Whītau Tūhono launched the Ngopi & Kōrero project — an initiative to connect members with each other amidst Covid-19 travel restrictions.

The idea was put forward by Sebastian Newman-Dennis and started as a special project at the Foundation. We now offer this programme yearly.

Ngopi & Kōrero is a random matching initiative that pairs you up with another person in the Leadership Network. This allows you to foster one-on-one relationships and strengthen your network.

You will be matched with a person every month from February to October. You will then connect with your buddy to arrange an in-person or online meeting and meet within the month you were matched. The content of the meeting is decided by you, but we will provide some prompts to break the ice.

After five years, we've facilitated about 600 catchups and in turn created a safe space to build personal connections. We are excited to kick off this project again.

Note: You must be a current Leadership Network member to be eligible for this programme.
