About our Arts Programme
The Foundation's Arts Programme brings Asia into the mainstream of New Zealand arts by inspiring New Zealand arts professionals to grow their connections and knowledge of Asia. It also supports the presentation of Asian arts in partnership with New Zealand arts organisations and events.
We have a proud history of supporting the development of individual practitioners and Asian arts projects in New Zealand through arts sector grants and artist residencies.
Both the Auckland and Christchurch lantern festivals and Auckland and Wellington Diwali festivals were founded by the Foundation. Due to their success, these festivals are now delivered by the relevant local government event teams.
Support for arts projects that attract a broad audience continues today with the development of deeper partnerships with New Zealand galleries, venues, festivals and regional and local government.
The Foundation currently offers the following programmes of arts funding:
Arts Practitioners Fund
The Arts Practitioners Fund supports New Zealand-based arts practitioners by offering experiential opportunities to strengthen artistic and professional connections with Asia. This includes residencies, work placements, research tours, and exchanges.
Arts Project Fund
The Arts Project Fund supports New Zealand professional arts companies, events and organisations to deliver projects that will grow New Zealanders' awareness and knowledge of Asian arts.
Curators and Programmers Tours
The Foundation's Curators and Programmers Tours offer New Zealand arts sector decision makers the opportunity to visit Asia to learn about the creative scene of a selected host country and make industry connections.
